Leaford's NEW Five Favorites

Leaford's NEW Five Favorite E-Cigarettes

#1) LoongTotem v9 and/or compatable:
These are the disposable atomizer/cartridge combination devices. They are available from Smoke51, ePuffer (as the EAZE Magnum), and from e-Cig.com (as the New Mini-Ecig).
Why I Love Them- Vapor, tons and tons of vapor. And the long cartridge life, easily equivalent to a pack.
The Downside- Most of the batteries are poor, many cartridges fail, or don’t last as long as they should, and all of it is expensive.
My reccomendations: Get the Starter Kits and batteries from ePuffer, and use Discount Code LEAFORD for 5% off. Get the cartridges from Smoke 51, and use Discount Code DSC-240 for 30% off. E-cig.com has the lowest prices and largest variety of strengths and flavors, but have a bad track record for quality and service, so are not reccomended, but if you do choose them, please use my affiliate link, E-Cig.com

In addition, there are two new retailers who are reselling E-Cig.com’s New Minicig. I have not yet reviewed either one, but don’t expect them to be much different than the ones I ordered directly.

They are Red Dragon and Bloog. LEAFORD works as a discount code at both; 5% off at Red Dragon, and 20% off at Bloog.

#2) DSE-601 E-Pipe:
These are available from Litecig, LitecigUSA, and ecigarettemall. All three offer warranties.
Why I Love Them: Long lasting cartridges and batteries. About a pack to a pack and a half worth per cartridge, and a battery that lasts up to a whole day.
The Downside: Non-removable atomizer, so if it fails you have to replace the whole body. Big, bulky to carry.
My Reccomendations: In the US, purchase from www.LitecigUSA.com for &79.95, in Europe from www.Litecig.com, and from www.ecigarettemall.com for $75 (use Discount Code DH for 5% off) in Asia/Pacific.

#3) “Perfect 5” Penstyles:
These are the penstyles that I rate at a perfect 5 for atomizer performance, both 5 out of 5 for vapor and ease of draw. Sedansa Diva, Janty Classic, and the DSE801 from ecigarettemall (or ecigmall) all perform at that level. I pair these with a USB manual switch battery from the Janty KISSbox at home, and out and about I use the Sedansa Diva’s extra long life batteries.
Why I Love Them: Outstanding vapor, USB power source convenience, longer lasting batteries than most penstyles.
The Downside: none really.
My Reccomendations: The Sedansa Diva from www.Sedansa.eu for 92 Euro, The Janty Extended Classic KISSBox from www.jantyusa.com for $134.95 or from www.jantyshop.com for 99.95 Euro, or the DSE-801 Manual Switch from www.ecigarettemall.com for $79 (use Discount Code DH for 5%off)

#4) DSE-901:
More of an honorable mention than a favorite since I seldom use it anymore. This is the best e-cig for a beginner, IMO.
Why I Love Them: It gives you a good introduction to the basic techniques of e-smoking, is cheap and reliable, and produces a satisfying amount of vapor. Easy to refill or drip.
The Downside: Shorter cartridge and battery life than a penstyle.
My reccomendations: It’s widely available, but www.LitecigUSA.com, www.Litecig.com, www.E-Smokeytreats.com, www.ecigarettemall.com and www.ecigmall.com are all under $50 and all offer 6 to 7 month warranties.

#5) M401:
This is a newer model, and hasn’t quite earned the reputation for reliability that the DSE901 has, but it is a good contender to be the 901 killer. It outperforms the current crop of 901s in vapor production, and has similar battery and cartridge life. It is available from Litecig, and from at least one Chinese seller. There is also a heavily modified version from Intellicig, which is getting great reviews.
Why I Love Them: Cheap, small and light, excellent penstyle-like vapor.
The Downside: Shorter cartridge and battery life than a penstyle. A bit harder to drip or refill than the 901.
My Reccomedations: Available from www.LitecigUSA.com, and www.Litecig.com in Europe for $49.95 Euro.

    Hi Leaford
Great information!!! Thanks for all your hard work and research, your information saved me lots of time. I will let you know what happens as I try this alternative to smoking. I have tried everything else and nothing works!

Thanks, Joan! E-cigs are the best hope for hard-core nicotine addicts like us. I’m glad to help.

    Hi Leoford,
I’m a new “vaper” if you will. Unfortunately, I hadn’t caught your posts before purchasing my Njoy mini. I don’t mean to cast aspersions on them, but I just wish I had done a little more research first. I’m about a pack to 1.5 pack a day smoker. (Oops did I say smoker? Sorry for the blasphemy. lol) I’m not too disappointed with it’s performance so far.(3 days) The cartridges don’t seem to last that long and well, to be frank, I want to switch over entirely to vaping, but with this lackluster performance, I do seem to pull and old faithful out of the pack and then “flame-on!”

    Hi, Holmes!

Yeah, the Npro is not good. I lost respect for Njoy when they came out with that. And I have heard they have let their customer service decline dramatically.

When I first started they were one of the good guys. The best e-cig in the US, and 5 star customer service. But just when they got a little success, positioning themselves in Target, and I hear Walmart now, they seem to have abandoned the service that got them there. And added the worst mini they could have to their line up.

    Very sad.

Brand new to e-cigs and this site has been extremely helpful.

On the DSE-901, not all of those site offer 6-7 month warranties. I saw 30 days on the ones I checked when I considered ordering.

Ended up ordering EAZE magnum starter kit at epuffer and they currently have a 10% discount code LOVE. However, the prices Leaford mentioned in CAN dollars? I got charged US dollars so paid more than I was expecting. They, too, only appear to have a 30-day guarantee.

Mnjul, I think you are confusing warranties with return policies. ePuffer, Litecig/USA, e-SmokeyTreats, and ecigmall/ecigarettemall do all offer 6 month or longer warranties, but only a 30 day return policy.

The exchange rate thing really bothers me. A lot. If they aren’t converting prices from Canadian to US, they are overcharging by 25%. I have checked my old receipts and they weren’t converting for me either, and I never even thought about it. D’Oh! I am going to look into this immediately.

And if they are offering a higher discount code, I can’t blame people for using it instead of mine. I think it kind of stinks for them to basically steal my referrals. But it explains why it hasn’t been used.

OK, I’ve heard from a Canadian ePuffer customer, who confirmed that e-Puffer’s prices are in US dollars, and are converted to Canadian dollars for Canadian customers. So, while it’s confusing for a Canadian company to price in US dollars, they aren’t overcharging or ripping anyone off.

However, I continue to hear new complaints about their service, and now I’m hearing from people who have received worse quality batteries than I did. Such as this review from Deficit, on the E-Cigarette-Forum: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/video-reviews/8092-review-epuffer-eaze-magnum.html

So, I can’t really recommend them any more. However, see my new video blog post for some newer options for disposables: http://blog.e-smoker-forever.com/2009/03/09/leafords-video-blog-monday-march-9th-2009/

Having just went through my ordering process with ePuffer, for those of you who watched Deficits review, let me just say this: As far as shipping, they waited 3 days to ship mine due to a back order of coffee carts which they communicated to me after I inquired as to why my order had not moved out of “Processed”. They then shipped my two starter kits and they arrived quite by surprise in exactly 5 days. Deficit is right on about the batteries. After the 2nd charge of the smaller battery, it stopped working. No switch. No charge. No vapor. However, the longer battery continues to work like a horse! I have been in contact with Lisa Green at ePuffer, and she advised me that yes, they had a batch of bad batteries and advised me to send back both kits including the chargers (they are indeed cheap plastic), so maybe they will be supplying better chargers as well. Just wanted to put in my latest experience with ePuffer

Well Folks, I wrote that last comment a bit premature. Lets see… about an hour after I posted, guess what? I took a drag from that work horse of a battery and……. DEAD. Just like the smaller battery, it stopped working. The switch shut off on me mid drag and will not come back to life. I have pretty much made the decision to just pack it all back up and send it off to Canada for a refund and order the Vapor King.
For those of you still waiting on a shipment from ePuffer, I suggest that you keep EVERY piece of packaging it comes with until you need to ship it back. I still recommend their customer service due to my experience with them, but customer service can only go so far when your holding a $130.00 dead product.

I have 2 ecigs now. A DSE901 which I love. It produces good vapor and a reasonably good throat hit. I also have V4Ls 808 which I like but seems like a hassle if you want to refill it and never seems as good as with a fresh cartomizer. Almost as costly as smoking. I am looking to try another and can’t decide between the Joye 510 and the DSE801. Like I said I love the 901 but seems like you have to top it off fairly frequently to keep getting the good vapor and throat hit. That is fine at home but on the road to or from work seems to run out about half way. I have heard good and bad about both. 801 good battery life but a juice hog. Softer vapor and not as much of a throat hit as the 901. 510 good vapor good throat hit. Now that I have found 901 to 510 adapter might be ok. Some of the monster cigs like scredriver and protege look very interesting. What do you think? I value your opinion as it seems you have tried them all. I also like a lot of vapor but the throat hit is important to me also.

    Pat, thanks for your question.

It seems to me you’ve thought through all the options pretty well, and it sounds like you’d like the 510 best.

The biggest advantages to the 801 are battery and cartridge life. These days, with the 510’s “mega” batteries, the 510 negates the battery advantage.

And the 510 carts, while smaller, are more reliable than the 801 carts, which often have too much or too little foam, which results in too little or too much liquid flowing to the atomizer. With the 510, you’ve got a smaller cartridge, but the foam density is less critical, so you get to actually vape most of what it contains.

As for hybrid battery models, I’ve used the Puresmoker Prodigy and Protoge with both the 510 adaptor and the 801 adaptor, and they work great with both. I haven’t tried very many other hybrids, but the ones I have all perform pretty similarly, with the only big difference being those with 5v instead of 3.7v. I haven’t tried any 6v mods. I think the hybrids are great options, but like the cartomizers, they aren’t for everyone.

    Hope that helps!
