Every vaper should watch this video and pass it on…

Maybe if it goes viral someone on daytime television will listen and we’ll get an e-cig segment with someone who knows a bit about e-cigs, for a change.

Leaford’s Video recommendations: Bornagainst
Last Updated on Thursday, 10 June 2010 05:03 Written by leaford Thursday, 10 June 2010 05:03
I haven’t done one of these in a while, but I’ve been meaning to spotlight Ryan’s (AKA Bornagainst) tip and trick videos.
Born has been an ECF member and frequent poster to V4L’s subforum for a long time now. He’s always been soo helpful with tips and advice, especially for new vapers, that we decided to bring him onboard to help out Val in our customer service department.
He has several helpful videos on his Youtube channel, ranging from flavor reviews to his latest, a quick-fix for cartos that don’t fit batteries:
His channel is http://www.youtube.com/user/kultflixxxster
Check him out!

Leaford's E-cig Blog Picks: VapewithPuff!
Last Updated on Monday, 22 February 2010 02:09 Written by leaford Monday, 22 February 2010 02:09
As with my Video Picks, I desperately need suggestions on a better column title.
As I wrote earlier, I have been browsing other e-cig blogs, and the best one I’ve seen recently, and the one that has most inspired me to blog more actively, is my first pick, VapewithPuff.
VapewithPuff is written by ECF member and frequent poster in the V4L subforum, Belletrist. She is smart, enthusiastic, funny, creative, and has a wonderful rapport with her audience. And the sheer volume and variety of her topics leaves me truly awed! It’s hard to believe she’s only been vaping a couple of months!
But she brings that beginner’s enthusiasm with her as she shares her knowledge with the reader. She shares the tips she’s learned, her views on the advantages of vaping over smoking, and generally what a new e-smoker can expect as they follow in her dainty footsteps on the journey of vaping.
She also involves her audience, inviting them to share their pics and stories.
I am humbled by how much I can learn from her, and hope you all check out her site and learn with me.
Here’s an excerpt from a recent post:
Ceasing & Starting, Symptoms & Side Effects
Side Effects of Quitting Smoking While Vaping:
Whether you set aside the smokes completely or dramatically reduce the amount and frequency that you smoke when you start vaping, the first thing you’ll notice is… nothing. I think there are two big reasons for this. One, you’re experiencing the effectiveness of vaping as a method of satiating your nicotine craving, and two–you’re having so much freaking fun vaping! That enthusiasm and wonder and energy itself is a wonderful salve against the little aches and pains in the rear that come with quitting smoking.
But nicotine isn’t the only thing you’ve been inhaling daily with cigarette smoke. After all, if that were the case, then… well, you’d more or less not need to switch to vaping. No, when you inhale smoke, you’re inhaling smoke. And you’ve probably inhaled a lot of it, along with thousands of chemicals and products of combustion, and of course, tar. Some of those delights have been accumulating in your body all this time, too.
Quitting is a double edged sword. See, not only were those chemicals bad for you, but they conveniently distracted you from how bad they were. Take tar, for example. It built up in your lungs. It also prevented you from hacking and coughing it up… at least, you know, for 20 or 40 years, give or take.
To read the rest of the post, go to her blog, VapewithPuff, and I highly recommend subscribing to new posts, you really don’t want to miss anything!

Leaford's E-cig Video Picks: Doctor Vapor!
Last Updated on Monday, 22 February 2010 01:45 Written by leaford Monday, 22 February 2010 01:45
Ok, the very FIRST reader suggestion I desperately need are better column title ideas. LOL
I used to write for my high school newspaper and could never write headlines worth a damn.
Anyway, back when I first started doing video reviews, I was one of only two english language video reviewers on the net. Now there are tons! I’m going to start pointing you guys to some of my favorites. And I might even start to rate them. Reviewing the reviewers as it were. Or maybe not.
We’ll start with recommending my favs and see how it goes from there.
Today’s pick is Doctor Vapor:
I really like this guy’s style. He’s enthusiastic, informative, and entertaining! He has great tips, with clear instructions, and is conscientious about referencing his sources. Very professional, and fun to watch.
He’s fairly new to the game. He has only been making videos for 3 months, and only has 8 so far. And to be honest, the ones I like best aren’t his reviews so much as his how to videos. His first video was on an easy to do mod, using a generic dremel tool as a body. Later, he did an excellent two part video on refilling cartomizers.
But my favorite video of his is my featured video today. I discovered Doctor Vapor from a discussion on the Vapor4Life subforum at ECF on the Cartomizer Condom Filling Method which was first demonstrated by Dogsbody, and which has become my favorite refill method. Dogsbody invented it, but Doctor Vapor’s video is the better instruction video on how to do it. I was thinking of doing a video of my own demonstrating this method, but with Doctor Vapor’s video already out there, there’s just no need!
And here it is:
So that’s Doctor Vapor! Check out Doctor Vapor’s Youtube Channel, and be sure to subscribe. I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more quality videos from him!
And send me your suggestions for future recommendations!

A trip to Vapor4Life's liquid manufacturer.
Last Updated on Sunday, 13 December 2009 06:20 Written by leaford Sunday, 13 December 2009 06:20
Over in the new member’s section of E-Cigarette Forum there’s a thread about whether we e-cig users should be concerned that our e-liquid is manufactured in China. The original post is:
That all if not part of the juice we buy is manufactured in China? I went to a party last night and a few people asked me this question, which made me begin to wonder. None of the smokers at the party wanted to try my e-cigarette, they were all concerned about how it is manufactured and how clean the facilities were. I cannot find a manufacture in the USA that does not use at least one product from China. Does this concern anyone or are my friends making me paranoid? At least here in the USA things are regulated, ok maybe not the best system but I am sure much much better than China. We have no idea what these manufacturing plants look like, if they are sanitary, etc.
Any thoughts on this?
I can’t answer there, so I thought I’d post my reply here. WITH PICS!!!
First off, while sanitation is, and should be, a reasonable concern with ANY consumable goods, the particular paranoia over Chinese goods is at least a little xenophobic, and even a bit racist. Sure there have been high profile cases of contaminated goods, but compared to the sheer VOLUME of consumable goods made in China for the US, they are such a MINUTE fraction as to be almost inconsiderable. And it’s not as if the US has never had serious incidents of contaminated goods or foods before. Salmonella salad, anyone?
But setting that aside…
Our manufacturer of course has certificates up the yin-yang, but in the end, as far as I am concerned, those are just pieces of paper. The real proof is in the pudding; ie, their procedures, so I thought a few pics would help reassure people.
I took a tour of our liquid manufacturer last week, and I was very impressed with the cleanliness and sanitation of the plant.
The liquid manufacturing facility, is isolated from the rest of the factory. To enter, everyone has to don lab coats, masks, hairnets, and plastic booties.

The entrance to the Clean Area
(That little box on the floor to the left of the door is a device that wraps a palstic bootie over your shoe automatically. You just step into the box, and *snap* you’ve been bootied!
)
Next, you have to step through a “clean room” type airlock, where these high pressure blowers spray sanitizer on you.

The airlock is at the end of a changing room where you don the labcoats.

Leaford in the airlock
Inside, the floors are covered in a sanitizer, and everything around you is spotlessly clean.

Seriously, I’ve been in food plants that didn’t have this elaborate a procedure.
Oh, and this isn’t related to cleanliness but… am I the only one green with envy of THIS charging station?

Happy Thanksgiving!
Last Updated on Thursday, 26 November 2009 03:19 Written by leaford Thursday, 26 November 2009 03:19
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
I have so many things to be thankful for. New opportunities. New friends. Reconnecting to my family. The welcome Steve has given me to Vapor4Life, and to his family. An amazing adventure ahead of me. I have more to be thankful for than any time in recent memory.
I sincerely hope that everyone has as nice a Thanksgiving as I have had.
And, if it helps anyone have a nice thanksgiving, V4L is having a Thanksgiving sale.
Enjoy your holiday!

More details on the alleged Philip Morris / Ruyan talks…
Last Updated on Sunday, 8 November 2009 05:54 Written by leaford Sunday, 8 November 2009 05:54
I expect a lot of people have already seen this article making the rounds that Phillip Morris has been in talks with Ruyan.
I have to admit I was pretty skeptical about this. There’s only one source for it, a press release writtten by Tiffany Ellis, a PR agent for TJT Media, published in OfficialWire, a press release mill that’ll print anything. And her reference link to Quamnet, a Mandarin language inventment service, didn’t actually mention PM or talks between them and Ruyan, just that Ruyan’s stock trading ws suspended.
So, I’m glad to find some outside verification for this story, at Electronic Cigarette Spot , and the author, E-Cig Guy, includes a link that actually refers to the original source article! He also has more details, and a good analysis about what this really means.
Great job, E-Cig guy!
Electronic Cigarette Spot is a great blog in general, and everyone should take a look at it.
He also has a good post on the difference in how the FDA is handling E-cigs versus how they are handling the H1N1 vaccine. While I disagree almost totally with his views on H1N1 and the vaccine, I am 100% with him in his view on the FDA’s hypocritical stance between the two.
